heres our newest recordings. for fun band with my bro in law to test out the new recording equipment. we did the vocals, guitars and drums live, still have some work to do on the drum levels, as well as getting some necessary cords and other shit, but the studios coming along nicely.

to test shit out i sang and played eighteen by alice cooper and Jeremiah played drums, then we did one of his originals, “vaginal discharge”, i drummed and he did the rest (except i overdubbed a lead) we also cleaned out a seperate room for mastering and storage.

heres a video i made with him and some of his friends last summer.

thee stickpinz were one of my first bands. featuring jamie rusboldt on bass, jamie evolution on vocals, bradx on drums, and skinny jr on gitar, we were always the band called at the last minute to open if someone didnt show up. we were all about 14 or 15, liked to drink some beer and “practice” every day which meant run through the set and then sit around all day having a bonfire and screwing our girlfriends. our songs had highly offensive lyrics.

ivan and the terribles had one great self released single out before i joined the band on farfisa. fans of the podcast or my blog may recognize other former members from bands such as foxy, the tantrums, and mystery girls. this recording was done live at a recent practice as a way for me to test my new digital recorder. feral.

certified PR head honcho steve “corn tooth” ziarnberg wouldnt stop bugging me to record this song, because he just had to show what a terrible singer he was (he thought he was great). for some reason i finally agreed and learned the guitar part. this was recorded on 4 track cassette, 3 of the tracks are electric guitar plugged in direct, track 4 is crack’y vocals. recorded in 2001.

here it is, saved for posterity, our take on johnny cash

i returned from florida in early ’97 and lived in a tiny apartment with my mom for awhile. she would always bitch at me to get out of the house, but i was way into a bunch of videos i had gotten, like the dickies and rezillos. that was the same time period as when i had my door county television show and videotaped thee headcoats and makers. on this song, i didnt have a bass or drums so i used an old 4 track of some lsok song, recorded over all the other tracks and wrote new music and lyrics. i didnt have a bass so i just tuned a guitar really low and transposed the riff. unreleased, just found it while going through a box of old tapes and decided it was worth saving.

this was my band in late 1995, about a month before lsok started. we did about half covers and half originals. the punk scene completely ignored us so we played school dances, parties, and anywhere else we could. there are numerous videos of this band. these songs are from our 3rd demo tape.

bradx – guitar and vocals

parky d – vocals

ann – bass

chad z – drums

mame cabinet

February 15, 2008

mame stands for multiple arcade machine emulator. basically it emulates the original hardware so you can play old video games exactly as they were in the arcade. its a free program.

while i enjoyed playing the games the feel of a computer gamepad wasnt right. the joysticks available are cheap and unrealistic compared to the real thing.

i did some research and purchased the nessecary components to assemble my own control panel. in order to test them and play some games, i temporarily mounted the arcade quality controls into an empty case of blatz returnable beer bottles.

everything works properly. there is a 1 player start button, a button to add credits, 3 assignable action buttons and an extra fire button on the other side for games that are easier to play that way.

here are some pictures showing the wiring and finished test controller

now i can concentrate on designing and building a cabinet

airport day 2001

February 14, 2008

june every year manitowoc has an airshow. in 2001 roy and his new girlfriend wendy were in town, they just started a new band, the reacharounds and wanted me to record some of their new stuff.

also over was roys ex bandmate in the evolutions, jamie king. i was in an unnamed band with him and a guy named manu. both bands recorded 2 songs each, roy and wendy each sang one and then we did an original called “atom smasher” and an oblivians cover.

these were recorded on a vintage 80s 4 track on its last leg and the only remaining mix was the first rough one i made, and then lost the master. (photos by shimon/lindemann)
